GRIHA PRAVESH POOJA/ गृह प्रवेश पूजा
is a ceremony performed on the occasion of one's first entry into a new house. Once the house is ready, the family moves in on an auspicious day that is determined by the astrological charts. Purity of panchang (almanac) and auspicious time (muhurat) must be considered during the griha pravesh. Normaly time of entry in to the house should be in Shubh/ Labh or Amrut chaughadiya Mahurat. The time of the chaughadiya Mahurat can be calculated by calculating the duration of Day and night. If lagan Shudhdhi has been done by a Jyotish Acharya than there is no importance of chaughadiya Mahurat. Grah prevesh can be done in fixed ascendant like Taurus,Leo,Scorpio and Aquarius ascendant.
AUSPICIOUS MAHURAT
In a newly built house, the first entry is considered to be auspicious when the sun is in the uttarayan position however in need Dakshinayan Sun can also be considered for grah pravesh.Following should be kept in mind while deciding the Mahurat for the Grah Pravesh.
Auspicious Days for the Grih Pravesh: Monday, Wednesday,Thursday,Friday and Sunday.
Auspicious Tithis: Shukla Pakshya ( Light Half): 2,3,5,6,7,10,11,13,15
Auspicious Nakshtras: Uttara Falguni, Uttarashadh,Uttarbhadrapad,Rohini, Mragshira,Anuradha, Chitra and Revati
Auspicious Ascendent: Fixed Ascendant ( 2,5,8 and 11) subjected to Lagan Shudhi
For a very Minutes Auspiciousness Sun Should be left during Grah Pravesh.

In need the Sravan, Kartik and Margshirsh months Pushya, swati, Dhanistha and Shatbhishaj nakstra can also be used. In extreme Need the setting of Jupiter and Venus does not matter.
Furthermore, the tithies (dates according to lunar calender) 4, 9, 14 and Amavasya (no moon night) should be avoided. Griha pravesh should not be held on a Tuesday.

CEREMONIES
VASTU PUJA
Vastu Pooja for Vastu Devata is performed outside the house (if house is on Ground Floor) before the actual entry into the house. A copper pot is filled with water, navadhanya (nine kinds of grains), Dub Grass, Flowers,leaves of Mango tree and one rupee coin. A coconut is then placed on the top of the pot . Coconut is wrapped with the red cloth and tied with the red thread called moli. After this the priest performs the Vastu pooja, add the husband and wife. Lady owner of house take this copper pot on her head and her husband take a small tulasi plant in his hand while entering in the house together and place the pot near the havan (ceremonial fire). Tulasi plant can be placed in a open sky area like Balcony etc.
VASTU- SHANTI
Vastu shanti or Griha shanti, involves the havan. A havan is performed to prevent harmful influences of the planets, remove negative vibrations and create a peaceful environment. Once all the poojas are concluded, a feast is offered to the priest. He is also given some dakshina or fees for his services and good wishes.
These two poojas are essential. Other poojas like the Ganpathi pooja, the Satyanarayan pooja or the Lakshmi pooja are optional, and can be performed if individuals need.
Do's and Don'ts of Griha pravesh
Griha pravesh is not complete until:
The doors of the house are fitted with shutters;
If the above-mentioned points are not considered when moving into a new house, they can bring trouble and miseries to the dwellers. Therefore, living in a house should be considered only after all rituals are complete as per the procedure given in the scriptures.
Once the griha pravesh ceremony has been completed, the family can then move into the house. The house should not be locked for a few days since that would be considered inauspicious.
NOTE:- You can ask for the Graha Pravesh Pooja in North Indian Style. Acharya Ji personally offers the services for this pooja in the entire country. He belongs to Mathura and he is a Sanskrit Acharya . All the pooja is being done as per Vadik Vidhan.
